Ever since our first-year seminar on semiotics, I've been fascinated by the theoretical aspects of how they are applied in practice. For my third dissertation topic, I would like to explore the following question:


How do brands communicate luxury using semiotic theory?


I find it intriguing how certain brands can project a sense of luxury and exclusivity solely through visual and auditory signifiers and I would like to explore what it means for a brand to be perceived as 'luxurious'?
